Ridley the Rubber

Meet Ridley the Rubber Plant also know as Ficus elastica. Bold greenery with broad glossy leaves known has impressive air cleaning abilities.

• Ridley likes bright and indirect sunlight
• Water when top inch of soil is dry. Avoid overwatering!
• He is particularly good at filtering out formaldehyde and benzene. A common household toxin. 

Tip: To keep your rubber plant bushy and healthy, rotate it every few weeks to ensure even light exposure on all sides.

Fact: The latex from Ficus elastica was used to make waterproof items. People created clothing, containers, and even bouncy balls from this natural rubber.

Before synthetic rubber became common, Ficus elastica was an important source of natural rubber. It was used commercially in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
